Competency-based training records

We are building competency-based training records. Each student will have one record, readable by their instructors and the office.

Not built yet. Tell us how your records work today.

The problem with paper records

A paper training file exists in one place at a time, can only be read by one person at once, and is hard to reconstruct if a page is lost.

What we are building

What the records will hold

Competency-based records

Each exercise will be recorded against defined competencies, with the instructor's assessment and sign-off, giving the next instructor a structured record to work from.

One shared record

Instructor and office will read the same record at the same time, so a lesson is not briefed from an out-of-date file.

Timestamped history

Every student will have a searchable history of what was flown, who signed it off and when.

Courses

Where it fits

Training records will sit alongside the course tools that exist today. Courses, enrolment, instructor diaries and flight charging are live now, and each record will attach to the lesson that was booked and flown.

  • Course enrolment, waiting lists and graduation: live today
  • Every flight recorded and charged when it is completed: live today
  • Competency records attached to those flights: what we are building
