A safety management system in Volanti

We are building a Safety Management System into Volanti, covering occurrence reporting from a phone, safety actions tracked until they are closed, and a view of current risk.

Not built yet. Tell us what you need from it.

Where safety reporting breaks down

Reporting friction

Reports that are too hard to file

When the occurrence report is a document on a shared drive that has to be found, completed and emailed, many reports are simply never filed. The event gets discussed informally and never recorded, so the safety data is incomplete.

Actions that lapse

Actions that are agreed but not closed

A safety meeting agrees an action and records it in the minutes, but with no owner, due date or tracking, it is easy to lose. It is then hard to tell whether it was completed.

What we are building

What it will do

01

Occurrence reporting from a phone

Reports will be short enough to file from a phone straight after an event.

02

Safety actions tracked to closure

Every report will be able to raise actions with an owner and a due date. Open actions will stay visible until they are closed, with a record of what was done.

03

A current view of risk

Reports and actions will roll up into a view of where your risk sits, so safety meetings start from the record.

Reports linked to flights and people

Bookings, flights, aircraft and people are already in Volanti, so an occurrence report will be able to point at them directly.

  • Reports will reference real flights, aircraft and bookings, with no retyping
  • The people involved are already in the system
  • Reporters will be able to file confidentially
